10404396_10207112524555363_7080212434690606185_nHoly Baptism is a Covenant between an individual and God.  It is God’s word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love.

INFANT BAPTISM: From the earliest times, children and infants were baptized and included in the church. The baptism of children and their inclusion in the church before they can respond with their own confirmation of faith is a compelling witness to prevenient grace.

Parents will be asked to make promises to help cultivate their children’s spiritual development and teach them to live a life true to the gospel, worship God, learn from the Scriptures and prepare the child to make a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. Because we take these vows seriously, we accept requests for baptism from church members and/or parents who are actively participating in the life of First United Methodist Church, Sebring.

ADULT BAPTISM: Baptism is a way of professing a person’s decision to follow Christ and have accepted Him as their Lord and Savior. It publicly claims the desire to rise to a new life and live for Christ. Baptisms are scheduled for adults who actively participate in the life and worship at First United Methodist Church, Sebring.  Being a baptized adult is a requirement for membership in the United Methodist Church.
